Home Painting tips

A simple gallon of paint, a brush and an idea, then, a few hours later, you're done! Right? If that's true, why don't my rooms turn out like the ones I see on HGTV or DIY? Here are some tips to help you in all of your painting endeavors.

  • Different paint finishes have different advantages. High-gloss paint is durable very easy to clean but it can show even minor imperfections on any wall. Flat paint will  hide imperfections, but it is easily damaged and not washable. For a great durable, easy to clean option, Eggshell is always a great choice.
  • DON'T fear color!
  • Try a sample! If you aren't sure what color you should choose get a few samples and paint them on the wall. A few dollars for a small sample can will save you lots of cash on the wrong color!
  • Know your numbers! When you buy paint you not only need to know the square footage but you also need to know the surface you are covering. You may need more than one coat depending on the surface.
